People have become overly dependent on technology which has been continueing to be in people’s life and whose effect on people’s daily life is an undeniable fact. Many people benefit from technology in most of their lives, especially the internet provides convenience. The internet has started to take place in people’s life with the development of technology. When it is said technologhy, the internet comes to the minds. People take advantage of technology while interacting with each other on social websites, improvements in medicine and educational equipments.
To begin with, there are lots of social websites which are continueing to gaining popularity every passing day. Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Formspring are among the most-known and used social networks. People share their own personal information on this websites and they communicate with each other via these networks. Moreover, most people download these websites’ shotcuts on their mobile phones in order to access easily. When went out, it can be easily seen that most people are talking about current news about Twitter or Facebook.
Furthermore, technology provides people healthier lives. Thanks to the innovations that take place in medicine, illnesses are diagnosed earlier than before, therefore, treatment becomes less demanding. Early disease recognition affects people’s life in a positive way. Even the disease is diagnosed in later stages, the healing is ended up positively by virtue of developments in medicine.
Finally, technology affects education in a good way. Most teachers use projectors, computers, overhead projectors in order to show audio visual educational aids in the class. It is obvious that almost all people understand easier by watching or listening. For this reason, these kind of technological equipments become indispensable for teachers.
All in all, it is explicit that the effect of technology on people’s life is an indisputable fact. Its facilities make people dependent on it. Particularly the development in the internet, medicine and education impress people because they can easily see that teachnology enable them conveniences. I believe that technology should be in our lives because most people make use of it in every part of their lives.

Optimism

Every person’s expectation from life and everyone’s point of view about life are different from one another.  While some people live optimistically, the others live pessimistically. This situation is related to people’s lifestyle habits. Optimism is ‘’ A feeling that good things will happen and that something will be successful, whereas pessimism is a feeling that bad things will happen and that something will not be successful Oxford Dictionary). There are distinctions between these two terms and there are also benefits of being optimisic.

To begin with, there is a huge difference between being optimistic and being pessimistic. Optimism is a condition of thinking the most hopeful view, on the other hand, pessimism is a condition of thinking the worst view. Pessimist people do not have any expectance from the future, they always complain about their status, yet, optimist people get the utmost enjoyment from their life. In other words, optimist people prefer to look the full side of the glass.

In addition to contradistinction between pessimism and optimism, there are also some benefits of being optimisim. First of all, it gives people reason for living and it promotes healthy living for people, thus, people’s self respect develop with the positive thinking. Moreover, it creates positive attitudes towards other people and this makes optimist people to be loved. Lastly, it enhances effective communications, therefore, optimist people’s social life is improved.

All in all, being optimistic is significant for a person’s life because it creates positive ecpectations and it also promotes positive relationships. It also enables people to produce an alternative ideas for dififcult situations. I believe that nothing is impossible with the positive thinking. As Helen KELLER has said ‘’Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope.’’

Slumdog Millionaire & A Separation

Films are significant mainstay for producers. In order to earn much money, producers should shoot their films flawlessly because breathtaking films are usually praised. In today’S society, there are not any people who have never watched a film. Everybody says his/her favorite film when it is asked. The two films which affected me when I watched are Slumdog Millionaire and A Separation. Even though there are similarities between these films, there are also some differences between them.

The first similarity between Slumdog Millionaire and A Separation is that both films were nominated for Oscar Film Awards and gained awards. In addition to being awarded with Oscar, both prestigious films’ fame are known all over the world. The last similarity between these films is that their durations are equal. In other words both films last for about one hundred twenty minutes.

Apart from the similarities, there are also some distinctions between Slumdog Millionaire and A Separation. The first difference between Slumdog Millionaire and A Separation is that while Slumdog Millionaire has gotten 8.8 points from The Internet Movie Database, A Separation has gotten 5.8 points.  The second difference between these two films is that drama is main theme in A Separation whereas drama is a supporting theme in Slumdog Millionnaire which contains also romance and spying. The last distinction is that Slumdog Millionaire is an American film. On the other hand, A separation is an Iranian film.

All things considered, both films are very good films and they are worth being watched. Their perfections are proved with the Oscar Awards. I strongly recommend everyone to watch these films. While watching them, captivation of these films impress the watchers.

Types of Teachers

Working with students can be sometimes exahusted but teachers play a significant role in their students’ lifes. Every adult remembers at least one of his/her teachers because students spend most of their times with their teachers in school and they share lots of things with one another. For this reason, the effect of teacher on the students is an undeniable fact. Evey teacher cannot leave the same  impression on the students because every teacher shares different characteristic. Lenient teacher, strict teacher and friendly teacher are among the most known teacher types.

One of the types of teachers is lenient teacher. This type of teachers do not mind so much anything. Being quite in the class is not important for them and also doing homework on time is not a must for their students. In addition to this, this kinds of teachers do not mind whether students copy with each other or not in the exam. The students of this type of teachers are relax in their class. The students chat with wach other during the lesson and this kind of teacher do not take attendence into considiration.

Another types of teacher is strict teacher. In contrast to lenient teachers, this type of teachers are very tough on students. They are adhere to deadlines. For example, if the due day passes, they do not accept the homework. This kind of teachers hate mistakes or carelessness. Due to the fact that students should be extra cautious in the classroom. Moreover, they are disciplined teachers, for this reason, they always keep their students on their toes.

The last commonly known teacher type is friendly teacher. Friendly teachers become more closer to their students than the other types of teachers. Friendly teachers make their students feel as if they were at home and this provides students to be relax. They are also sympathic, therefore, they listen their students private problems and try to find solutions to them.

All things consideres, every teacher does not share the same characteristic. All teachers have a different place in the eyes of students. Being special for students are in teacher’s power. In my opinion, a teacher should not be so lenient. Every one has different tastes. However, I believe that being both friendly and not so much strict are the best characteristic features of a teacher.

European Union

The European Union is an economic and political union. Although it has 27 member states now, it was first formed with 6 countries. After World War II, different unions were established such as European Coal and Steal Community, European Atomic Energy Community and European Economic Community. Then these communities were united as European Community. After a while European Community’s name was changed as Eurepean Union. However, what was the purpose of the participant countries’ aim for establishing this union? There are indeed main causes of forming this union such as reverting back their old economic situations after the World War II and combining their powers.

In the Europe two important wars took place between 1908 and 1945. In these wars both European countries and the other countries were affected in terms of economy. Economic crises took place in these countries during these years and due to the fact that they decided to form a union to remove the effects of the wars in a veloce way. Thus, they did not have to pay taxes for the products that they imported and exported and this situation faciliated their reconstructions.

The second cause of establishing the European Union is being more powerful. In other words, the European countries wanted to advance not only in economoy but also in politic and social life. Today, America is dominant in the world and The European Union stand against the America. Because of the power of America, the European countries wanted to get rid of the pressure of America and wanted not only created their wealthes and capitals but also improved them.

After looking at two main causes of establishing the European Union namely, the desire of Eurpeon countries to revert back to their old economies and combining their powers, now let’s look at its two main effects which are benefiting from education and traveling without visas.

The first effect of the European Union on its participants is education. Erasmus Programme became valid in 1987 and since then 1.5 million students have benefited from it. Thanks to that programme, so many students can go other European countries for education without any restriction. They can improve themselves in terms of language. In addition to this, students can also make use of the facilities that the country presents to develop themselves.

The second effect is traveling without visas. The European countries’ citizens can travel through Europe without any restriction. They can also experience new cultures and expand their knowledge by doing sightseeings. Thus, people can improve themselves by traveling. They can also interact with the natives of the country that they go.

To sum up, after looking at these causes and effects, it is obvious that advantages of being in European Union is an undeniable fact. We can think the Europe as a country and the European countries as cities because the Eurepean countries are under the same roof. Being in a union facilitates people’s life styles in terms of both education and traveling. I believe that everybody wants to live in a country which belongs to a union.

Improving English

English still continues to remain being the most commonly speaking language. Most employers want employees having the ability to speak English fluently in order to be successful in dog-eat-dog world. Due to this reason, many people want to improve their English. There are some steps to be followed for developing the ability for speaking English.
To begin with, a person who wants to improve her/his speaking should read a book in the original language but as a first step, s/he should read that book in her/his native language in order to know the topic beforehand. Thus, s/he can improve her/his vocabulary by guessing the words because being familiar with the subject will help her/him. Because of the importance of knowing vocabulary for expression, it will be beneficial for the speaking.
In addition to reading books in the original language, going abroad and staying there for at least a month are the undeniable facts that develop speaking ability. Interacting with natives will be helpful for pronunciation because nobody can speak as correctly as a native. Listening to the natives’ speeches and also by speaking with them at the same time certainly improve a person’s English in terms of speaking.
As a last step, watching films in the original language is highly significant to develop the skill for speaking English. Watching a series consistently will help a person to improve her/his English. Thus, s/he will learn English without having to study it. The series or films should be watched without subtitles. The more they are watched, the more they become understandable.
To conclude, enhancing the vocabulary by reading books, being abroad to speak with natives and watching films without subtitles are the basic steps that can be followed to speak English fluently.  I believe that a person can speak his/her English by doing these things. It will take time but time is the best key for eveything.

Observation in English Literature

The lesson that I observed was English Literature. Although there were thirty chairs, only half of them were occupied, that is, there were 15 students during the lesson. There were a overhead projector and  a projection, however, these technological devices were not used. In addition to this, there was Atatürk’s picture over the board. The color of classroom was soft blue which was like white. The teacher was also wearing a blue t-shirt and a jean. Her voice was not loud and she did not increase her voice during the lesson. In the lesson, she wanted us to read Pamela’s Letters and she also wanted us to take notes while reading. After reading them, we expressed our thoughts about Pamela’s lifestyle. She distributed papers for each of us and we wrote a letter to Pamela. Then some of us read loudly our letters to our classmates.  After finishing reading the letters, she let us go.

One of Wlliam Hogarth's Pictures' Description

This picture takes place in a palace’s saloon whose walls are painted griffles and gypseries. The palace seems to belong to the period of 1600s and 1700s when the painting was drawn because there are also war pictures which is the symbol of victories on the walls. There is also a fireplace and a sculpture sited on the fireplace. This is an important detail because I can understand that sculpture is not prohibited in that period, that is, people are free to indicate their considerations without the pressure of church. The ceiling of the saloon has curvings and ornaments which make saloon more imposing. There is also a huge luster hanging from the ceiling. In addition to that, twenty four people take place in this picture. All these people are wearing elegant and elaborete dresses. There are small groups talking with each others. All these people seem to wait for a person’s coming such as the King of their country. There are also  two impalas standing in front of the people. I can say that animals are protected and they have a value even among the elegant people. As a conclusion, I can say that this is the picture of pleasure, luxury and joy during the 1600s and 1700s.

Parallel Universe
Dr Bishop was a scientist who was closely related with the recent developments of the science. He was the founder of Massive Dynamic which was the most powerful company in the USA. His life was not ordinary, he always made experiments on children to gain them specific abilities. However, nobody except his collegues knew these experiments even his wife, Lisa, and his son. His wife just knew that Dr Bishop tried to save their son’s life because their son, Peter, was on his deathbed.
One day, Dr Bishop left home at an early hours of the day which was not odd. Lisa woke up and went to kitchen to prepare breakfast for Peter. After preparing it, she took it to Peter. As soon as she entered the Peter’s room, she came across with the ugly truth. Peter was dead on his bed. Lisa was shocked and immediately called her husband. Dr Bishop came home and took Peter to the hospital. Peter was buried one day later.
Dr Bishop and Lisa were so sad and Dr Bishop could not stand his child’s loss. For this reason, he dedicated himself to his work and made experiments day and night. After hard workings, he discovered parallel universe. In that universe every individial was same with the real universe, only difference was the differences of the characteristic features. Thanks to a mirror, he could see the other universe. Then Dr Bishop used experimented children to transit the other universe for taking other universe’s Peter.
The transition to the parallel universe would be realize thanks to Serena who was one of the experimented children. Ability to make depolymerization between two universes, Serena could successfully transmit the other universe with Dr Bishop. When Dr Bishop went his home, Lisa, who was other universe’s, could not understand anything odd. Dr Bishop took Peter and went off the home. They could transmit their universe with the help of Serena again.
Peter could not understand what was happening, however he was believed that he belonged to this universe not paralled universe. After a while, disasters began. The reason why disasterous events was happening was that the harmony between two universes was destroyed. Dr Bishop and his collegues tried to stop these events and save both their universe and the other universe but Dr Bishop’s selfishness caused to destroy both two universes.

Children's Shows

Children have been brought up by technology  in recent years. Instead of playing with toys, they prefer watching cartoons or playing computer games. For this reason, programmes that are related to children should be didactic, be amusing and be gripping . To illustrate, they should create curiosity for learning. If children are curious about the show, they continue watching it. Furthermore, producers should use musics, songs, and animations so as not to make children bored. They should not forget that children’s attentions are easily distracted. In addition, children’s shows should encourage children to understand and think what is going on around them and also cause children to gain confidence. Shortly, children’s shows should not only be entertaining but also be informative. They should offer a window through which children can explore the world.
